Everyone has magnets inside their body that can be used to make pictures of internal anatomy. This is one of the basic concepts behind Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), which exploits the magnetic field of water molecules. MRI is commonly used to take pictures of the inside of the body (any part) but it can also be used to show how the brain works, watch the heart pump, trace nerves and many other things. Professor Ian Cameron will present some impressive pictures of the “inner self” created using "inner magnetism" and explain the simple but elegant physics involved.
