Radiation Detection and Applications, and Some Stuff on Printed Electronics too
What does radon monitoring, radioimmunotherapy pharmaceuticals, DNA sensitive MOSFETs, printed electronics, and organic semiconductors all have in common? They’re all topics I’ve worked on!
This introductory talk will give an overview of some of the research being done as part of the National Research Council’s Printed Electronics Program, some of the research I’ve worked on over the years on a variety of radiation detection applications, as well as some future work on gallium nitride radiation sensors and radiation-hard electronics.
In particular you’ll learn more about radon gas detection. Radon results in over 3000 Canadian deaths per year, over 20,000 in the USA, and yet it’s a topic few have heard of. You’ll learn where it comes from, how to detect it, and some details about a recent prototype monitor developed at NRC.
