Successful eclipse events on Sunday and Monday

The department in collaboration with the Faculty of Science recently hosted two events related to the eclipse:

On Sunday we heard talks by Yue Zhang from Physics, Hanika Rizo from Earth Science, Nadia Bozak from the Department of English and from Indigenous elder Barry Sarazin. The speakers talked about light, the moon, the earth and the solar system from various perspectives. We had over 400 participants who could also use the solar telescopes that we had setup on the balcony of Richcraft to observe details of the sun.

On Monday we held a viewing of the partial eclipse on the balcony of Richcraft where we again setup our telescopes. A report from the event is in this story from the Ottawa Citizen website:
