Colloquium: "Neutrinos & Dark Matter on a Collision Course"

While the Standard Model of Particle Physics has demonstrated great success over a span of decades, several mysteries persist. Notably, these include what gives rise to neutrino masses and the existence of dark matter. A great deal has been learned about both neutrinos and dark matter over the last century of research, and upcoming experiments have even more to offer. In this talk, I will summarize our current understanding of neutrinos and dark matter, as well as where the two fields are heading. Currently planned experiments in one realm can be leveraged to better understand the other. Additionally, there is a possibility that these two mysteries are fundamentally linked. In that case, these experimental facilities are our best chance at unlocking the next advances in the field of particle physics.
