First trial of the planetary camera
Monday, December 12, 2011
After a permanently clouded fall, we finally got a clear sky. We were about 10 people observing, part of the Learning in Retirement program at Carleton University. The weather was cool, actually too warm for mid-December. This introduced a lot of humidity and the seeing was quite bad.
We had the time to observe Jupiter, M57, the Pleiades and M2. Then the Moon started to cast a luminous veil on the sky, but was hiding behind a building, so we decided to stop.
I also had the time to record a 30 sec video of Jupiter and Io and stack the best frames together. Here's the result.
Short observing session

A very short observing session that ended prematurely because of clouds. Here's a very quick snapshot of the Moon.
