primary research interests are on experimental particle physicsas a member of the ATLAS collaboration. ATLAS is a multi-purpose detector operating at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Europe. It has been designed to search for signals that will enable physicists to understand the fundamental laws of nature and in particular the acquisition of mass through the so-called Higgs mechanism. It is the search for the Higgs boson the key element of this mechanism that I have been currently focusing on.</p> <p>Over time I have worked on the ATLAS Tracker that reconstructs the tracks of charged particles and in particular the Transition Radiation Tracker. I have then moved on to working  on the reconstruction of electrons and photons in ATLAS by combining the information from the ATLAS tracker and electromagnetic calorimeter. This constitutes the ground-work for the search for the Higgs boson via its decays either to two photons or to four leptons which I have been currently involved in. Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. </p> <h3>Experimental Particle Physics</h3> <p>The ATLAS experiment based at the CERN Laboratory in Switzerland is one of the key experiments of its generation, that elucidated the origin of the fundamental concept of mass. ATLAS may even solve the mystery for the unaccounted-for matter in the universe, the so-called dark matter, which corresponds to approximately 25% of the total energy budget of the universe. ATLAS is one of the largest collaborative efforts ever attempted in the physical sciences, consisting of more than 5000 physicists, students, and technical staff from more than 180 universities and laboratories. My primary research focus on the ATLAS experiment is on the identification and reconstruction of electrons, particularly in the decays of the carriers of the fundamental weak force, the W and Z bosons. research is in experimental particle physics, the study of the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions. I am involved in the ATLAS experiment at CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The ATLAS experiment is an exciting project exploring physics at the TeV energy scale, where new kinds of phenomena are expected to appear. The LHC and ATLAS allow for the detailed study of the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking, the exploration of the origin of mass and the search for particles that could make up the elusive dark matter. </p> <p>I am currently working on Standard Model analyses and Higgs Physics with the ATLAS detector. I am also contributing to the operation of the ATLAS New Small Wheel (NSW). I am pursuing new opportunities, including the development of Micro Pattern Gas Detector (MPGD) with the RD51 Collaboration at CERN for the future International Linear Collider (ILC).</p> <p>In past years, I headed the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) group at Carleton University. The SNO results are recognized as a top scientific breakthrough in recent times. The SNO collaboration completed its final paper which analyzed the full dataset of all phases of the experiment.</p> <p>I strongly encourage inquiries from students interested in working on ATLAS.
