#iamaphysicist: Celebrating diversity within Carleton Physics

The United Nations declared 11 February 2019 to be the International Day of Women and Girls in Science “to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls” http://www.un.org/en/events/women-and-girls-in-science-day/.  We showed our support by joining the Institute of Physics’ #iamaphysicist campaign  http://www.iop.org/news/18/february/page_71068.html on Twitter https://twitter.com/CarletonMedPhys – some snapshots:

#iamaphysicist Dr Rahaf Ajaj, Postdoctoral Research Associate,Vice-Chair International at Canadian Association of Postdoctoral Scholars, and Health & Safety Representative for Carleton University Postdoctoral Union (CUPU): “Selfie with my idol Marie Curie!”

#iamaphysicist Alexandra Bourgouin, PhD candidate: “Présentation Femme en Physique Canada (Women in physics Canada) 2018 à USherbrooke. Super expérience, et on voit bien que la science me rend bien heureuse! Fière d'être une femme en science!”

#iamaphysicist Prof. Heather Logan: "I calculate what new Higgs bosons might look like in experiments."

#iamaphysicist Dr. Laurel Sinclair, Adjunct Research Professor and Scientist at Natural Resources Canada: “PhD in experimental particle physics 1995, now developing detectors for radioactivity in the environment”

#iamaphysicist Prof. Rowan Thomson "Just finished a lecture on Statistical Physics - Boltzmann factors & partition functions fun with great 4th year students! Now to physics research to advance cancer treatments"

Happy #WomenInScienceDay! Let's work together to increase representation of women in science.
